Build the story, then write the script
An outline of chapters and scenes you reorder by dragging, a card for every scene with its summary and estimated runtime, and a card for every character with its dramatic engine. All of it in the project file itself, next to the script.

The story in front of you while you write
Structure, characters and parked ideas live beside the page, not in scattered files.
Story outline: chapters and scenes you drag where you want
Every scene heading you write becomes an entry in the side outline under its chapter. Drag a scene to another position or another chapter and the whole text moves with it, numbering included.
- A new scene starts at the cursor, not at the end of the script.
- Scene count and estimated runtime per chapter.
Scene cards: the summary and the runtime on one card
Lay the chapter out as cards on one board: every scene has its heading, a two-line summary you write, its estimated runtime and element count. Reorder the cards by dragging and the script follows.
- The card summary is yours alone: it is never printed or exported to PDF.
- Double-click a card to jump to the scene on the page.
Character cards: the dramatic engine, not just the name
Every character has a card with a colour and a photo, and fields that ask what a dramaturg asks: what is their external goal? Their inner need? Who stands in their way? What do they lose if they fail? How do they begin and how do they end?
- Characters who speak in the script appear in the story cast automatically.
- A report of the scenes each character appears in.
Idea Graveyard: what you cut is not lost
A line of dialogue you dropped, an action line, or a whole scene: it goes to the Idea Graveyard instead of disappearing. Search it and bring back what you want whenever you want. And beside every scene a notes field asks: what changed in the story by the end of this scene?
Writers' questions
Are the cards and notes saved with the script?
Yes. The outline, the cards, the characters and the graveyard are all in the same .trf project file, so they travel with it between your devices and into its backups.
Can I reorder scenes after writing them?
Yes, by dragging in the outline or on the cards. The scene moves with its full text and the numbering follows; if scene numbers are locked for production, the scene keeps its number.
Does any of this show in the PDF?
No. Summaries, notes and character cards are tools for the writer; what gets exported is the script in its standard format only. Character and cast reports are exported separately when needed.
