You write the scene, Risha formats the page
A screenwriting editor built for Arabic from the ground up: write from the right or from the left in the same project, and the elements and pages are formatted automatically in Courier Prime with standard margins, on Mac, Windows and in the browser.

You write, you never format
Everything that pulls a writer away from the scene is handled by Risha: elements, margins, pagination, direction and formats.
Seven elements, one keyboard
Press Enter twice on an empty line and the element menu appears; press Tab inside dialogue and a parenthetical opens. The shortcuts work on an Arabic keyboard exactly as on an English one.
- Scene heading, action, character, parenthetical, dialogue, transition and shot.
- Focus mode hides everything but the page.
- Spellcheck is off by default so your characters' names are never underlined.
From the right, from the left, in the same project
Writing direction is a value saved in the project, not a setting in the app: Arabic from the right, English from the left, or a hybrid of both. The project opens in the same direction on every device, and the margins follow the direction.
- Switch direction from the editor toolbar, not from a buried menu.
- Western numerals everywhere, the way production companies expect them.
A page is time, and pagination counts it
Pages are set in 12-point Courier Prime on Letter or A4, 54 lines per page with standard margins. Dialogue cut by the end of a page continues with (MORE) and (CONT'D) automatically, and no scene heading is left orphaned at the bottom of a page.
- Estimated screen time per scene and for the whole script.
- The same page numbers on screen, in PDF and in print.
Come in with your file, leave in the format they ask for
Import your script from Final Draft, Fountain or RTF and continue in Risha. When you deliver, export a standard PDF, an FDX file for anyone on Final Draft, Fountain, or DOCX from the desktop app.
- A real PDF with embedded fonts that can be searched and copied, and a copy-protected version for readers who should not take the text.
- Your project is a single .trf file on your device.
Writers' questions
Do producers and competitions accept a Risha file?
What usually gets sent is a PDF, and Risha exports it in the standard format. For anyone working in Final Draft, you export an FDX file they open directly.
Can I write in English only?
Yes. Choose left-to-right when creating the project or from the editor toolbar and you get the usual American format in full. The interface itself is available in English.
Does all of this work in the browser?
The core writing tools, formatting and pagination are available in Risha Online with your account. DOCX export is available in the desktop app.
